Instrument Panel: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this information, refer to HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  2. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
  3. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
  4. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING (A C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING - VEHICLES WITH: R1234YF REFRIGERANT Climate Control System - General Information).
  5. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: AIR CLEANER Air Cleaner (303-12M).
  6. NOTE: If equipped.

    WARNING: When releasing the cooling system pressure, cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a thick cloth.

  9. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

  10. On both sides, remove the front door. Refer to: Front Door .
  11. Remove the bolts, nuts, release the harenss retainers and remove the plate.

  12. Release the clips and remove the LH lower trim panel.

  17. Remove bolts, disconnect the electrical connectrs, release the harness retainers and remove the selector mounting bracket.

  18. Remove the bolts, detach the harness push pins, bracket push pins and remove the bracket.

  19. Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .
  20. If equipped, remove the selector lever assembly.
  21. If equipped, remove the gearshift lever.
  22. On both sides. Position the front door weatherstrip aside.

  23. On both sides. Release the clips and remove the instrument panel side trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  27. On both sides, remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
  28. Remove the push pins and RH insulator panel.

  29. NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering shaft is disconnect, or damage to the clockspring may result.

  30. Position the RH carpet aside.

  32. Remove the push pins and position the LH carpet aside.

  37. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
