Turbocharger RH: Removal

For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations refer to OEM Color Coding

NOTE: Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE: During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the oil fill cap, then remove the engine appearance cover. Install the oil fill cap.

  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  4. Remove the Catalytic Converter RH. Refer to: Catalytic Converter RH .
  5. Remove the Front Subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe .
  6. Disconnect the turbocharger oil supply tube secondary latch.

  7. Disconnect the turbocharger oil supply tube from the spring lock coupling. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .

  8. Loosen the turbocharger intake pipe clamp and then position the turbocharger intake pipe out of the way. Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve hose from the turbocharger wastegate actuator.

  9. Remove the turbocharger oil return tube bolts, then remove the turbocharger oil return tube.

  10. Remove and discard the turbocharger oil return tube gasket and turbocharger oil return tube O-ring seals.

  11. Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube bolts, then position the turbocharger coolant tubes out of the way.

  12. Remove and discard turbocharger coolant tube the sealing washers.

  13. Disconnect LH the turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector and the turbocharger bypass valve hose. Loosen the clamp and then disconnect the CAC tube.

  14. Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve hose from the CAC tube. Remove the CAC tube nut from the intake manifold.

  15. Disconnect the RH turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector. Disconnect the RH turbocharger bypass valve hose. Loosen the turbocharger outlet pipe clamp, disconnect the turbocharger outlet pipe from the turbocharger and then remove the turbocharger outlet pipe.

  16. Remove the turbocharger heat shield bolts, then remove the turbocharger heat shield.

  17. Remove and discard the turbocharger mounting bolts, then remove the turbocharger.

  18. Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.

  19. Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube bolt, then remove the turbocharger oil supply tube.

  20. Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube linked sealing washer and the turbocharger oil supply tube filter.
