Turbocharger LH: Removal

NOTE: Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.

NOTE: During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Remove the oil fill cap, then remove the engine appearance cover. Install the oil fill cap.

Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve hose from the turbocharger wastegate actuator.

Remove the turbocharger heat shield bolts, then remove the turbocharger heat shield.

Loosen the turbocharger intake pipe clamp and then position the turbocharger intake pipe out of the way.

Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube bolt, then position the turbocharger oil supply tube out of the way.

Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube linked sealing washer and the turbocharger oil supply tube filter.

Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
Remove the Catalytic Converter LH. Refer to: Catalytic Converter LH .
Remove the turbocharger oil return tube bolts, then remove the turbocharger oil return tube.

Remove and discard the turbocharger oil return tube gasket and turbocharger oil return tube O-ring seals.

Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube bolts, then position the turbocharger coolant tubes out of the way.

Loosen the turbocharger outlet pipe clamp, disconnect the turbocharger outlet pipe from the turbocharger and then position the turbocharger outlet pipe out of the way.

Remove and discard the turbocharger mounting bolts, then remove the turbocharger.
