Inspection and Verification
NOTE:
This section provides mechanical diagnosis of the turbocharger assembly. If there is a MIL (malfunction indicator lamp illuminated, or a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is present, these should be diagnosed prior to performing turbocharger mechanical diagnosis.
- For a PCM (powertrain control module) DTC (diagnostic trouble code, REFER to: Electronic Engine Controls , Diagnosis and Testing) For driveability symptoms without a DTC (diagnostic trouble code), Refer to Engine Controls - Symptom Charts (Except Diesel & Hybrid) .
- Verify the customer concern.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Wiring harness(es) - If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- If the concern is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Diagnostic Tab in the Ford diagnostic equipment.
