Thermostat Housing: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. If equipped, remove the block heater harness clips and position aside.

  3. Disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  4. Release the clamps, disconnect the heater core hose and position the heater core hose aside. Remove the oil filter cap and the engine appearance cover. Reinstall the oil cap. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    • Disconnect the ECT sensor.

    • Remove the bracket nut.

    • Release the tabs, remove the harness clip and position the engine harness aside.

  5. Disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  6. Remove the hose clamp and bolt and remove the thermostat housing. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm)
