Valve Cover: Removal

- Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to: Fuel Injectors .
- Remove the fuel rail supply tube. Refer to: Fuel Rail Supply Tube .
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and the wire retainer. Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the wire retainer and remove the nut for the ground wire. Disconnect the electrical connectors and wire retainers. Disconnect the wire harness from the valve cover and position as needed.
- Remove the NVH insulators.
- Disconnect the hose from the retainers and the electrical connector. Remove the clip and disconnect the crankcase vent hose at the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the wire harness retainers from the generator bracket. Remove the cap and the nut. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
- Loosen the retainers and remove the valve cover.
- Remove and discard the valve cover gasket.
- Remove and discard the valve cover seals.

NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
Clean the valve cover.
