Oil Pan: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within 5 minutes of sealant application, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 10 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

    Apply a 3 mm bead of silicone sealant to the new oil pan.

    Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

    Material: Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep Wipes / ZC-31-B

  2. Install the oil pan, nuts and bolts. Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages.

    Torque: Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) Stage 2: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)

  3. Install the oil level sensor.

    Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)

  4. Connect the oil level sensor electrical connector.

  5. Lubricate with clean engine oil and install the oil filter.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil / XO-5W40-5Q3SD (WSS-M2C171-F1)

  6. Install the CAC. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) .
  7. Install the oil level indicator.

  8. Fill the engine with the clean engine oil.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil / XO-5W40-5Q3SD (WSS-M2C171-F1)
