Oil Cooler: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE: Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and free of foreign materials.

    Install the new oil cooler gasket.

  2. Install the oil cooler, stud bolts and bolts.

    Torque: Stage 1: 44 lb.in (5 Nm) Stage 2: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm) Stage 3: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm)

  3. Connect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

  4. Lubricate with clean engine oil and install the oil filter.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil / XO-5W40-5Q3SD (WSS-M2C171-F1)

  5. NOTE: If the oil pressure switch is to be reused, apply thread sealant.

    If necessary, install the oil pressure switch.

    Material: Motorcraft® Thread Sealant with PTFE / TA-24-B (WSK-M2G350-A2)

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  6. Connect the electrical connector and the wire retainer.

  7. Position back the bracket and install the nut.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  8. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  9. Check and top off the engine oil.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil / XO-5W40-5Q3SD (WSS-M2C171-F1)
