Exhaust Manifold: Removal

  1. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to: Turbocharger .
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to: Generator - 3.2L Duratorq-TDCi (148kW/200PS) - Puma .
  3. Disconnect the wire retainer from the generator bracket.

  4. Remove the bolts, lifting bracket and generator bracket.

  5. Remove the bolt and position aside the oil level indicator.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connector and wire retainer.

  7. If necessary, remove the EGRT sensor 11.

  8. Remove the bolts and the heat shield.

  9. Remove and discard the EGR cooler clamp.

  10. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold nuts.

  11. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the exhaust manifold studs or damage to the stud torx head or cylinder head threads can occur.

    Remove and discard the exhaust manifold studs. Remove the exhaust manifold and discard the EGR cooler gasket.

  12. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the exhaust manifold studs or damage to the stud torx head or cylinder head threads can occur.

    Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold studs.

  13. NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
    NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the stud bolt holes.

    Clean the exhaust manifold mounting surface. Use the General Equipment: Plastic Scraper

  14. Clean and inspect the exhaust manifold. Refer to: Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection .
