Crankshaft Front Seal: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
  4. Using the special tool, loosen the crankshaft pulley bolts. Use Special Service Tool: 303-1310 Holding Wrench, Crankshaft.

  5. Remove bolts and the crankshaft pulley. Discard the bolts.

  6. Remove the crankshaft washer.

  7. Using the special tool, release the crankshaft front seal from the engine front cover. Use Special Service Tool: 303-679A Remover/Installer, Engine Front Cover Inspection Plate.

  8. Remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.
