Turbocharger RH: Removal
NOTE:
When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Loosen the clamps and remove the turbocharger inlet tube.
- Disconnect the hose, loosen the clamps and remove the turbocharger outlet tube.
- Remove the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Remove the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) .

- Disconnect the LH HO2S and the LH catalyst monitor sensors.
- Disconnect the wire routing connectors.

- Disconnect the RH HO2S and the RH catalyst monitor sensors.
- Disconnect the wire routing connector.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove the exhaust flange bolts and detach the exhaust hanger.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter flange nuts.

- Remove and discard the LH catalytic converter flange nuts. Position the catalytic converter y-pipe down and back out of the way.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove and discard the gasket.

NOTE: Use a 3/8" Jiffy-Tite® quick disconnect tool, close the tool around the tube, press the tool into the fitting and rotate until the tool is fully seated into the fitting.
Disconnect the turbocharger coolant return tube at the turbocharger and at the cylinder head.
- Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate hose.
- Remove the bolt for the turbocharger coolant supply tube and the turbocharger oil feed tube.
- Remove the upper turbocharger oil tube manifold assembly bolts at the turbocharger oil tube manifold assembly.
- Remove and discard the upper turbocharger oil tube assembly gasket.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger mounting bolts, remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube from the block fitting while removing the turbocharger and position the turbocharger aside.

NOTE: Use a 3/8" Jiffy-Tite® quick disconnect tool, close the tool around the tube, press the tool into the fitting and rotate until the tool is fully seated into the fitting.
Disconnect the turbocharger coolant supply tube from the turbocharger fitting and remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube. Remove the turbocharger.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.
- Remove the turbocharger exhaust flange stud bolts and the turbocharger exhaust flange. Discard the turbocharger exhaust flange stud bolts.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger exhaust flange gasket.

NOTE: Whenever the turbocharger is removed or replaced, always install a new turbocharger fitting and oil filter assembly.
Remove the lower turbocharger oil tube assembly bolt and the turbocharger oil tube assembly.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger oil tube assembly O-ring seal.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger fitting and oil filter assembly.
