Pinpoint Test R : The Engine Service (Wrench) Indicator Is Never Or Always On (Base Message Center IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) Only)
- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
If the engine service indication message is missing or invalid, the BCM and the IPC set DTC U0100:00 and the IPC defaults the engine service (wrench) indicator off.

- Transmission concern
- Fuel shut off system concern
- BCM concern
- IPC
Visual Inspection and Pre-checks
- If the oil change required message is displayed in the message center, reset the oil life monitor. Refer to the Owner's Literature
- R1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC . No GO to R2 - R2 PERFORM THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the TCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes Refer to the appropriate Automatic Transmission article for the procedure. No GO to R3 - R3 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article No GO to R4 - R4 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No If the engine service (wrench) indicator is always on, RESET the oil minder. REFER to the Owner's Literature. If the engine service (wrench) indicator is still always on, Refer to IPC Guided Routine Testing . If the engine service (wrench) indicator is never on, the system is operating normally.
