Valve Cover: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Remove the ignition-on-plug. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
Remove the oil level indicator.

Disconnect the crankcase vent tube.

Position out the boot and disconnect the CHT sensor electrical connector.

Disconnect the wire retainer.

Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector.

Remove the nut and position aside the radio capacitor.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Disconnect the VCT solenoid electrical connector.

Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector and the wire retainer.

Disconnect the wire retainers.

Remove the nuts and position aside the bracket.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

Loosen the bolts and remove the valve cover.

Using a special tool, remove and discard the valve cover seals. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle, 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.
