Oil Pan: Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
- If equipped. Remove the nuts, bolt and stud. Position aside the transmission fluid cooler.
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector. Disconnect the wire retainers.
- Remove the lower splash shield.
- Using the special tool, remove the exhaust gas oxygen sensor. Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
- Remove the bolts and position aside the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)
- Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)
- Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Remove the A/C compressor nut and stud.
- Remove the bolts and position aside the A/C compressor.
- Remove the bolts and position aside the bracket.
Torque: 68 lb.ft (92 Nm)
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the bolts.
- Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)
- Separate the engine from the transmission.

NOTE: The oil drain plug with O-ring seal is to be reused unless damaged.NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Drain engine oil and remove the drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Remove the engine front cover bolts.
- Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
