Oil Pan: Installation

  1. Clean all mating surfaces.

    Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Gasket Remover / ZC-30-A

    Material: Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep Wipes / ZC-31-B

  2. NOTE: The component must be installed within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.

    Apply a 3 mm (0.19 in) bead of silicone sealant.

    Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

  3. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Install the oil pan and the bolts finger tight.

  4. Install the engine front cover bolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  5. Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence shown.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  6. Install the drain plug.

    Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  7. Alternate tightening the LH bellhousing-to-engine and RH engine-to-bellhousing lower bolts to draw the transmission and engine together.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  8. Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  9. Install the bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  10. Install the bolt.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  11. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.
    NOTE: Component(s) must be lubricated with clean engine oil.

    Install a new oil filter.

    Torque: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)

  12. NOTE: Make sure that new bolts are installed.

    Position the bracket and install the bolts.

    Torque: 92 lb.ft (125 Nm)

  13. Position the A/C compressor and install the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  14. Install the A/C compressor stud and the nut.

    Torque: Stud: 80 lb.in (9 Nm) Nut: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  15. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  16. Install the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
  17. Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  18. Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  19. Position the exhaust manifold heat shield and install the bolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  20. Using the special tool, install the exhaust gas oxygen sensor. Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.

  21. Connect the HO2S electrical connector and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector. Connect the wire retainers.

  22. NOTE: Only tighten the nuts and bolt finger tight at this stage.

    If equipped. Position the transmission fluid cooler. Install the stud, bolt and the nuts finger tight.

    Torque: 1: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm) 2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm) 3: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  23. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
  24. Install the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
  25. Install the oil level indicator.

  26. Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .
