Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console - Vehicles With: Single Passenger Seat .
  2. Remove the selector lever boot.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  3. Lift the selector lever bezel up and remove the retainers.

  4. Disconnect the selectshift switch electrical connector.

  5. Remove the screws and push pins, release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  6. Position aside the weather strip and remove the trim panel.

    1. Remove the bolt.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    2. Release the clips disconnect the electrical connector and remove the lower steering column trim panel.

  7. Remove the screws and push pins, release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  8. Release the harness retainer and position aside the harness.

  9. Remove the push pins and bolts.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    1. Remove the selector lever nuts.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    2. Remove the selector lever bolts.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    3. Remove the selector lever cable retainer bolt.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    4. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the selector lever assembly.

  10. Release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  11. Release the clips and remove the FCIM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  12. NOTE: If equipped.
    NOTE: Non-touch screen display shown.

    Remove the bolts and the FCDIM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    1. Remove the bolts and the FDIM.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  14. Remove the bolts and the ACM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  15. Remove the screws and the climate control assembly.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Remove the screws and the bracket.

  17. Remove the bolt, release the harness retainers and position aside the harness.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  18. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  19. Move the steering wheel to the lowest position.

  20. Release the upper steering column shroud tabs.

  21. Center the steering wheel.

  26. Remove the screws and the IPC.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  27. On both sides. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
  28. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  29. Remove the retainers and the insulation panel.

  31. Position aside the weather strip and remove the trim panel.

    • If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.

    1. Remove the passenger side air bag to in-vehicle cross beam bolts.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors release the harness retainers and position aside harness.

  32. NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring may result.

    Remove the bolt.

    Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  33. Remove the bolts and the steering column.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  34. Remove the retainers and the parking aid speaker.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  35. Disconnect the electrical connectors and position the harness aside.

  39. NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the instrument panel upper section or damage to the components may occur.

    Remove the instrument panel upper section.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector, release the harness retainers and position aside the harness.
