Front Brake Pads: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. Remove the brake caliper spring.

  3. NOTE: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.
    NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

    1. Remove the caps.
    2. Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts.

      Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    3. Position the brake caliper aside.

  4. Remove the outboard brake pad.

  5. Remove the inboard brake pad.

  6. Press the brake caliper piston. Use the General Equipment: Brake Caliper Piston Retractor
