Muffler and Tailpipe: Installation

  1. Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
  2. Install the rear muffler and attach the exhaust isolators.

  3. Install the front muffler and attach the exhaust isolator.

  4. Install the front crossmember brace and the retainers.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Do not torque the clamp in this step. The clamp should be loose enough for adjustment of the tailpipe.

    Partial replacement. Install the clamp and assemble the front muffler to the rear muffler entry pipe and tighten the clamp enough the handle the muffler and tailpipe assembly for installation.

  6. Tighten the clamp in the sequence shown.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  7. NOTE: Make sure that new clamp is installed.

    Install the new catalytic converter flange clamp.

    Torque: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm)

  8. Check the exhaust system for leaks.
