Catalytic Converter: Installation

- Install the new catalytic convertor gasket.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Apply anti-seize to thread of sensor, install the Catalyst monitor sensor.
Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Install the catalytic convertor inner shield and install new fasteners.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Install the catalytic convertor.

- Install the new top fasteners of catalytic convertor.
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Install the new mounting bracket fastener.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the new top fasteners of catalytic convertor.
- Install the new lower fasteners of catalytic convertor.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the new muffler and catalytic converter flange clamp. Attach the exhaust isolator.
Torque: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm)
- Remove the cable ties. Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

- Remove the support and install the A/C compressor and the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Connect the A/C compressor electrical connectors.
- Attach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove the support and install the A/C compressor and the bolts.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
- Install catalytic converter shield and install new fasteners.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Attach the catalyst monitor sensor clip and the wiring harness.
- Connect the electrical connector and attach the catalyst monitor sensor clip.
- Install the catalytic converter shield and install new fasteners.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Install the HO2S. Refer to: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) .
- Check the exhaust system for leaks.
