Thermostat Housing: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE:
During installation, make sure the coolant outlet connection is fully seated on the thermostat housing before tightening the bolts.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the powertrain control module. Refer to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) .
- Release the clamps and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
Torque
: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the quick release coupling.

- Remove the bolts.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Release the clamp, disconnect the coolant hose and remove the thermostat housing. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Remove the bolts.
- Inspect the thermostat housing O-ring seal and replace if necessary.
