Removal And Installation: Radiator: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant .
  3. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
  4. Remove the CAC. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) .
    • Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings. Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.

      Torque

      : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    • Detach the A/C line.

    • Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

    • Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  5. If equipped. Using general tool, clamp the transmission cooler lines. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers

  6. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    If equipped. Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission cooler lines. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  7. Detach the LH side crash sensor and the wiring harness retainers.

  8. Remove the bolts and position the hood latch assembly aside.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    1. Remove the radiator upper mounting brackets and the radiator upper isolators.
    2. Remove the cooling module.

  9. Release the clips and remove the A/C condenser and transmission fluid cooler (if equipped).
