Pinpoint Test C : The Cruise Control Does Not Disengage When The Clutch Pedal Is Applied
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford EcoSport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- C1 CHECK THE CPP (CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION) CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH (CPP_TOP) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view PCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Monitor the PCM Parameter Identification (PID) CPP_TOP while applying and releasing the clutch pedal.
Does the PID value read "YES" with the clutch pedal applied?
Yes GO to C5 No GO to C2 - C2 CHECK THE CPP (CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION) CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect CPP Switch C2354.
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the PCMPID CPP_TOP.
Does the PID value read YES?
Yes INSTALL a new CPP switch. No GO to C3 - C3 CHECK THE CPP (CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION) CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the PCMPID CPP_TOP.
Does the PID value read YES?
Yes REPAIR the ground circuit. No GO to C4 - C4 CHECK THE CPP (CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION) CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect PCM C175B.
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to C5 No REPAIR the circuit. - C5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the PCM and all related in-line connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PCM and all related in-line connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, follow TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
