Front Impact Severity Sensor: Removal

WARNING: WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. WARNING: WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to health and safety warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Pyrotechnic Device Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  3. If equipped. Disconnect the hood ajar switch electrical connector.

  4. Remove the pin-type retainer, disengage the tabs and remove the air cleaner inlet pipe.

  5. Remove the bolts and separate the hood latch and bracket.

    Torque

    42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)

  6. Detach the wiring harness retainer.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the nut and front impact severity sensor.

    Torque

    93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
