Steering Wheel: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the driver air bag. Refer to: Driver Airbag .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that the steering wheel lock is engaged.
    NOTE: Make sure that the road wheels are in the straight ahead position.

    Remove the steering wheel bolt.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    1. Disconnect the upper electrical connector.
    2. Disconnect the lower electrical connector.
    3. Remove the steering wheel.

  3. NOTE: Make sure that the clockspring rotor does not rotate.
    NOTE: Make sure that the clockspring pins are not bent or damaged.

    Secure the clockspring with adhesive tape. Use the General Equipment: Adhesive Tape
