Brake Master Cylinder: Removal

NOTE: LHD shown, RHD similar.

Left hand drive (LHD) vehicles 

  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .

    All vehicles 

    1. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
    2. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

      If equipped. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder tube.

  2. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Disconnect the brake tube fittings.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  3. Remove the nuts and the brake master cylinder.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  4. NOTE: Take extra care when handling the components.

    Do not remove the brake master cylinder piston extension.

  5. If a new brake master cylinder is being installed. Remove the pin and the brake fluid reservoir.

    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
