Transfer Case

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment 

Cable Ties
  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .
  2. Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .
  3. Remove the RH front halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH - 2.0L Duratec-HE (125kW/170PS) - MI4, AWD .
  4. Remove the HO2S. Refer to: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) .
  5. Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.
  6. Remove the fasteners and catalytic converter shield.

  7. NOTE: Make sure that the exhaust flexible pipe is not forcibly bent or twisted.

    Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

  8. Remove and discard the muffler and catalytic converter flange clamp.

  9. Remove the bolts and position aside catalytic converter mounting bracket.

  10. Remove and discard the bolts.

  11. Remove the PTU to engine mounting bracket bolts.

  12. Remove the PTU mounting bolts.

  13. Disconnect PTU vent hose.

  14. Remove the PTU mounting bolts and PTU.

  15. Remove the PTU to engine mounting bracket bolts and remove the PTU.
