Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub - Vehicles With: Rear Drum Brakes: Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. NOTE: Make sure that the sensor ring is correctly located.

    1. Old rear wheel bearing.
    2. New rear wheel bearing.
    3. Install the wheel bearing with the pink colored wheel speed sensor ring facing towards the transmission side. Use Special Service Tool: 308-095 Installer, Input Shaft Bearing., 308-604 Installer, Output Drive Flange Seal. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press

  3. NOTE: Make sure that a new snap ring is installed.

    Install the new wheel hub bearing retaining circlip.

  4. Install the wheel bearing and wheel hub. Use Special Service Tool: 204-161 (T97P-1175-A) Installer, Halfshaft.

  5. Check and if necessary adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to: Parking Brake Cable Adjustment - Vehicles With: Rear Drum Brakes .
  6. NOTE: Do not tighten the front wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground. The nut must be tightened to specification before the vehicle is lowered onto the wheels. Wheel bearing damage will occur if the wheel bearing is loaded with the weight of the vehicle applied.
    NOTE: Install and tighten the new wheel hub nut to specification in a continuous rotation. Always install a new wheel hub nut after loosening or when not tightened to specification in a continuous rotation or damage to the components may occur.
    NOTE: Apply the brake to keep the halfshaft from rotating.

    Tighten the wheel hub nut.

    Torque: 188 lb.ft (255 Nm)

  7. Check and if necessary adjust rear toe. Refer to: Rear Toe Adjustment - AWD .
