Rear Brake Pads: Removal

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. Remove the brake caliper spring.

  3. Remove the caps.

  4. NOTE: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.
    NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

    1. Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts.

      Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    2. Position aside the brake caliper.

  5. Remove the brake pads.

  6. Retract the brake caliper piston into the brake caliper bore. Use the General Equipment: Brake Caliper Piston Retractor
