Front Brake Pads: Removal

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Remove the brake caliper spring.
- Remove the caps.

NOTE: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
Position the brake caliper aside.
- Remove the brake caliper guide pins.
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove the brake flexible hose bracket bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the brake caliper guide pins.
- Remove the brake pads.
- Remove the brake pads.
Material: Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner / PM-4-A, PM-4-B

NOTE: Protect the caliper pistons and boots when pushing the caliper piston into the caliper piston bores or damage to components may occur.
Retract the brake caliper pistons into the brake caliper bore. Use Special Service Tool: 206-005 Retractor, Brake Caliper Piston.

NOTE: For 12.60 in (320 mm) brakes, clean all residual pad adhesive from the brake caliper piston and the finger area of the brake caliper or brake noise may occur.
