Front Brake Caliper: Removal

NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
    NOTE: Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted and is correctly located.

    Loosen the brake hose fitting and disconnect the brake hose.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  3. Remove the brake caliper spring.

  4. Remove the caps.

  5. NOTE: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.

    Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts and the caliper.

    Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  6. Remove the outboard brake pad.
