Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The RCM continuously monitors the right front impact sensor circuits for the following faults: 

If a fault is detected, the RCM stores DTC B1417:11 or B1417:93 in memory and sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the airbag warning indicator.

PPT AB RCM DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B1417:11 Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: Circuit Short to Ground A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a short to ground from the right front impact sensor feed circuit.
B1417:81 Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: Invalid Serial Data Received A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a faulted right front impact sensor or an open circuit from the sensor feed or return circuits.
B1417:93 Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: No Operation A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a faulted right front impact sensor or a short to voltage from the sensor feed circuit.
