Oil Pressure Test

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Disconnect and remove the oil pressure switch. Refer to the appropriate engine article.
- Connect a commercially available oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sender oil galley port.
- Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Run the engine at the specified RPM and record the gauge reading.
- The oil pressure should be within specifications, refer to the specification chart in the appropriate engine article.
- If the pressure is not within specification, check the following possible sources:
- Insufficient oil
- Oil leakage
- Worn or damaged oil pump
- Oil pump screen cover and tube
- Excessive main bearing clearance
- Excessive connecting rod bearing clearance
- Chain tensioner leak
- Remove the commercially available oil pressure gauge.
- Install and connect the oil pressure switch. Refer to the appropriate engine article.

NOTE: 2.0L Duratec shown 1.5L Duratec and 1.0L EcoBoost similar.
Check and refill the oil as needed, using new manufacturer-specified oil.
