Oil Pan: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter .
  3. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the drain plug, drain engine oil and install drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

    Torque 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  4. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  5. Remove and discard the bolts.

    • Remove the oil pan.

  6. Remove and discard the bolts.

    • Remove the oil pan.

  7. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.

    Remove the studs.

    Remove the retainer and the shield.
