  1. NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.

    Install the engine into the vehicle. Use the General Equipment: Floor CraneUse the General Equipment: Lifting Bracket

  2. Align the index-mark made during removal.

  3. Install the transmission-to-engine bolt.

    Torque 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  4. Install the transmission-to-engine bolts.

  5. Tighten the engine mount studs

    Torque 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    1. Install the engine mount and the nuts.

      Torque 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

    2. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

      Install the engine mount bolts finger-tight.

    • Remove the General Equipment: Floor Crane

    • Remove the General Equipment: Lifting Bracket

  6. Tighten the engine mount bolts.

    Torque 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  7. Install the transmission-to-engine bolts.

  8. Install the transmission-to-engine bolt.

  9. Install the transmission-to-engine bolt.

  10. NOTE: Only rotate the engine in a clockwise direction or engine damage will occur.
    NOTE: The torque converter nuts are accessed from the top of the vehicle.

    Using a magnetic socket install the new torque converter nuts. Use the General Equipment: Magnetic Socket

    Torque 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  11. Install the torque converter nut access plug.

    1. Connect the transmission main control and TSS electrical connectors.
    2. Attach the wiring harness retainers to the main control cover stud bolts.

  12. Install the ground wire and bolt.

    Torque 16 lb.ft (22 Nm)

    1. Remove the support and install the A/C compressor and the bolts.

      Torque 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    2. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connectors.
    3. Attach the wiring harness retainer.

  13. Install the radiator hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    1. Connect the fuel supply tube. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
    2. Connect the EVAP vapor supply tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  14. Connect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  15. Connect the coolant hose.

    1. Install the coolant pump and the bolt.

      Torque 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    2. Connect the coolant pump electrical connector.
    3. Connect the coolant hose and clamp. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    4. Attach the coolant hose retainers.

    1. Attach the wiring harness retainers.
    2. Attach the coolant hose retainer.
    3. Connect the coolant solenoid electrical connector.

    1. Connect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    2. Attach the coolant hose retainers.

    1. Position the wiring harness and install the retainers.
    2. Attach the wiring harness retainer.

    1. Attach the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Install the ground bolt.

      Torque 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

    3. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector.

  16. Install the following items:

    1. Refer to: Throttle Body .
    2. Refer to: Starter Motor .
    3. Refer to: Catalytic Converter .
    4. Refer to: Battery Tray .
    5. Refer to: Air Cleaner .

  17. NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

    1. Position the CAC inlet pipe and install the nuts.

      Torque 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    • Tighten the clamp.

      Torque 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    1. Install the degas bottle and hose assembly onto the tabs.
    2. Connect the degas bottle coolant tube.
    3. Connect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    4. Connect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    5. Attach the coolant hose retainers.

    1. Install the CAC outlet pipe and the bolt.

      Torque 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

    2. Tighten the clamps.

      Torque 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    1. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly and the nuts.

      Torque Nuts: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) Clamps: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    2. Connect the PCV coupling.
    3. Connect the crankcase pressure sensor electrical connector.
    4. Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector.
    5. Connect the quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
    6. Connect the vacuum tube to air outlet pipe. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  18. Connect the vacuum pump tube coupling.

  19. Install the following items:

    1. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
    2. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
    3. Refer to: Hood .

  20. NOTE: Lubricate the engine oil filter seal with clean engine oil.

    Install a new engine oil filter.

    Torque 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

  21. Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .

  22. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  23. Use the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Misfire Monitor Profile Correction routine in the diagnostic scan tool.
