Tie Rod End: Removal

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that a new nut is installed.

    Remove and discard the tie rod end nut.

    Torque: 39 lb.ft (53 Nm)

  3. NOTE: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.

    Loosen the tie rod end jamb nut.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  4. Separate the tie rod end from the wheel knuckle. Use Special Service Tool: 211-001 (TOOL-3290-D) Remover, Tie-Rod End.

  5. NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.
    NOTE: Make sure that the tie rod end is installed with the same number of turns as when removed.

    Remove the tie rod end.
