Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

  1. NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

    If installing a new PCM, connect a battery charger to the battery to make sure it is charged to maintain proper battery voltage. Refer to: Battery Charging .

  2. NOTE: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) installation DOES NOT require new keys or programming of keys, only a Parameter Reset of the PATS.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. Refer to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description . Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment

  3. Remove the PCM cover.

  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  5. Remove the nuts and the PCM.

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
