Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoid: Removal

NOTE:
The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

- Remove the engine appearance cover.
- Disconnect vacuum tube.

- Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamps, remove the nuts. Disconnect the vacuum tube from air outlet pipe.
Torque
: Nut: 35 lb.in (4 Nm) Clamp: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Disconnect the fuel evaporative tube quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Disconnect the PCV quick release coupling.
- Disconnect the Turbocharger boost pressure and charge air temperature sensor electrical connector and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly.
- * Clean, inspect, and cover all open ports.
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamps, remove the nuts. Disconnect the vacuum tube from air outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Position the harness aside.

NOTE: The O-ring seals are to be reused unless damaged.NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil.NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.
- Disconnect the VCT oil control solenoid electrical connectors.
- Remove the retainers and the VCT oil control solenoids.

: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-20 (WSS-M2C948-A)
Torque
: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
