Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

  1. NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

    If installing a new PCM, connect a battery charger to the battery to make sure it is charged to maintain proper battery voltage. Refer to: Battery Charging .

  2. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the PMI routine. Refer to: Module Programming .

  3. NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

    Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  4. Remove the nut and the PCM shield.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the PCM.

  6. Remove the nuts and the PCM.

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
