Pinpoint Test R : The 911 Assist Or Emergency Assistance Not Operational Message Displays

- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
Possible Sources
- If a fault message appears indicating the 911 Assist or Emergency Assistance is not operational, the concern may be caused due to modules not communicating or incorrect APIM procedures.
- 911 Assist or Emergency Assistance feature disabled
- Network communication concern
- Module configuration concern
- APIM
- R1 CHECK FOR CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Are any Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) present?
Yes REFER to the appropriate module DTC Chart in the appropriate service information article. No GO to R2 - R2 VERIFY THE 911 ASSIST OR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FEATURE IS ENABLED
- Check the 911 Assist or Emergency Assistance feature setting in the display settings menu.
Is the 911 Assist or Emergency Assistance setting enabled?
Yes GO to R3 No Enable the 911 Assist or Emergency Assistance feature. - R3 CHECK THE VEHICLE SERVICE HISTORY
- CHECK the vehicle service history for recent service actions related to the RCM and APIM.
Is any recent service action with the RCM or APIM noted?
Yes CARRY OUT the PMI procedure as directed by the diagnostic scan tool. No GO to R4 - R4 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (SYNC MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the APIM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the APIM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Refer to APIM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
