Front Seatbelt Retractor and Pretensioner: Removal

The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
- Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Refer to: B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Pull straight off to release the retainers and remove the D-ring bolt cover.
- Remove the D-ring bolt and position the front seatbelt aside.
Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Remove the front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner.
- Disconnect the front seatbelt anchor pretensioner electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Lift the front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner up and out.
- Disconnect the front seatbelt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.
