This vehicle is equipped with transmission fluid warmer, a transmission fluid cooler and an auxiliary transmission fluid cooler. The transmission fluid warmer is a coolant-to-transmission fluid heat exchanger mounted on the transmission. The transmission fluid cooler is an transmission fluid-to-coolant heat exchanger mounted on the radiator support. The auxiliary transmission fluid cooler is a transmission fluid-to-air fluid cooler which is mounted in front of the A/C condenser. The cooling system also consists of a thermal bypass valve which is mounted on the transmission. When the transmission fluid is below normal operating temperature, transmission fluid travels from the transmission to transmission fluid warmer, to the thermal bypass valve and back to the transmission. When the transmission fluid is at or above normal operating temperature, the transmission fluid cooler coolant control valve closes, stopping coolant flow tot he transmission fluid warmer. The thermal bypass valve opens allowing transmission fluid to travel from the transmission through the coolers and back to the transmission. The transmission fluid cooler transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the engine coolant. The auxiliary transmission fluid cooler transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the ambient air.
