Pinpoint Test F : The Alarm System Does Not Activate From An Unauthorized Entry At The Hood

  1. F1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs IN THE BCM

NOTE: DTC B1305:01 sets if the hood is open during the BCM on-demand self-test. Make sure the hood is closed prior to running the BCM self-test.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM on-demand self-test.

    Is DTC B1305:01 present?

Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test H .
    No  GO to  F2.
  2. F2 MONITOR THE BCM HOOD AJAR SWITCH (HOOD_SW) PID

    • Using a scan tool, view BCMPIDs.

    • Using a scan tool, monitor the BCM HOOD_SW PID.

    • Disconnect: Hood Ajar Switch C127.

Does the BCMPID read AJAR when the switch is disconnected?

Yes  INSTALL a new hood ajar switch.
    No  GO to  F3.
  3. F3 CHECK THE HOOD AJAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: BCM C2280F.

    • Measure the resistance between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  F4.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  4. F4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION

    • Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)

      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins

      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System(OASIS) for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, BCM Guided Routine Testing
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
