Removal And Installation: Radiator: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R1234YF Refrigerant .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  3. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the nut and disconnect the A/C condenser outlet line.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  4. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC inlet tube.

    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    • Disconnect the turbocharger boost pressure sensor connector.

    • Release the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    • Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC outlet tube.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  5. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
  6. Remove the retainers and the radiator sight shield.

  7. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the nut and disconnect the A/C compressor outlet line.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  8. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  9. Remove the bolts and the upper radiator brackets.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  10. NOTE: Front bumper removed for clarity.

    1. Position the radiator towards the engine.
    2. Release the upper tabs and remove the A/C condenser.

  11. NOTE: If equipped.

    Remove the bolts and position aside the transmission fluid cooler.

    Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    Remove the radiator and the CAC.

  13. Remove the bolt and separate the CAC from the radiator.

    Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)
