Transmission Draining and Filling

NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is level.

- Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid. Apply thread sealer to the drain plug.
Material: Motorcraft® Thread Sealant with PTFE / TA-24-B (WSK-M2G350-A2)
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove the fill plug.
- Fill the transmission to the bottom of the fill hole. Refer to: Specifications .

Vehicles Equipped with a Transmission Fluid Cooler
- Loosely install the fill plug.

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with a transmission fluid cooler must be started and run for 2 minutes with the clutch engaged (clutch pedal released) to allow the transmission fluid to circulate through the transmission fluid cooling system or the transmission will be underfilled.
Start the engine and allow the engine to idle for 2 minutes with the clutch engaged.
- Turn engine off.
- Fill the transmission to the bottom of the fill hole. Refer to: Specifications .

All vehicles
- Apply thread sealer to the fill plug. Install the fill plug.

Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
