Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

  4. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes secondary latches.

  5. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Using the special tool, disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes from the front transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  6. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket nuts.

  7. Disconnect the transmission fluid temperature sensor electrical connector.

  8. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the bolts and the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  9. Inspect the transmission case to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seals and backing rings were removed with the transmission fluid cooler tubes and are not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transmission case, remove the seals and backing rings.

  10. Remove RH front wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  11. Remove the pushpins and position the splash shield aside.

  12. Remove the pushpin and the RH brake cooling pipe.

  13. Remove the secondary latches.

  14. Using the special tool, disconnect the front transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler.

  15. Remove the front transmission fluid cooler tube nut and remove the front transmission fluid cooler tubes.
