Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test

Check
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.
- Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.
- Remove the transmission cooler return tube secondary latch.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler return tubes

NOTE: Before removing the fill plug, clean the area around the fill plug.
Remove the fill plug.
- Connect one end of a 12.7 mm (0.5 in) inner diameter x 2540 mm (100 in) long hose to the fluid cooler return tube and insert the other end into the fluid fill hole in the transmission case.
- Start the engine and run it at idle with the transmission in NEUTRAL.

NOTE: The fluid flow must be steady (without air bubbles) to make sure of an accurate reading.NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the end of the hose from the fluid fill hole in the transmission case and place it into a measuring container for 15 seconds. Make sure a vigorous flow is present. After 15 seconds, insert the end of the hose back into the fluid fill hole in the transmission case.
- Turn the engine off.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the test hose and connect the transmission fluid cooler return tubes.
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latch.
- Install the underbody shield and the bolts.
- Install the underbody shield and the bolts.
- Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
