Battery Cables - 3.5L Duratec (212kW/278PS): Removal

NOTE: This procedure provides information about routing, retaining points and connectors of the cable. It does not include the steps for removing components to gain access to the cable.
NOTE: AWD vehicle with auxiliary water pump shown, vehicles without AWD and auxiliary coolant pump similar.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
    1. Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
    2. Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
