Condenser - 3.5L Duratec (212kW/278PS): Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. Remove the pin-type retainers and the radiator site shield.

    • Remove the radiator guide pins.

    • Using cable ties loosely support the cooling module.

  4. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  5. Remove the A/C line support bracket bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  6. Remove the retainers and the front under body shield.

  8. Remove the quick-connect coupling secondary latches from the transmission cooler tubes.

  9. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the cooler bypass valve. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  10. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    • Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector.

    • Remove the condenser outlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 155 lb.in (17.5 Nm)

    • Remove the condenser inlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  11. Remove the retainers and the lower radiator support.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

  12. Remove the condenser foam seals.

    • Remove the transmission cooler line bracket retainer and the condenser retainer.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    • Release the tabs and remove the condenser.

    • Release the transmission cooler line clamps.

    • Remove the transmission cooler line bracket retainer.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)
