Fuel System Pressure Check

310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit

Materials 

Name Specification
Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound XG-3-A ESE-M1C171-A

Check 

NOTE: This Fuel System Pressure Check is for the low pressure side of the system.
  1. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  3. NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.

    1. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
    2. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

  4. Remove the Air Cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
  5. Remove the High Pressure Fuel Pump noise insulator.

  6. Disconnect the fuel supply line-to-high pressure pump quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  7. Install the Fuel Pressure Test Kit between the fuel supply line and the high pressure pump. Use Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

  8. NOTE: The fuel pump control module electrical connector was previously disconnected to release the fuel system pressure and must be reconnected to test the fuel system pressure.

    Reconnect the fuel pump control module electrical connector.

  9. Reconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  10. NOTE: Carry out a Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) visual inspection for fuel leaks prior to completing the fuel system pressure test.

    Test the fuel system pressure to make sure it is within the specified range. For additional information, refer to Specifications .

  11. After completion of the fuel system pressure test, disconnect the battery ground cable, open the drain valve on the Fuel Pressure Test Kit and release any residual fluid into an appropriate container. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  12. Remove the Fuel Pressure Test Kit by reversing the installation steps.
    1. NOTE: Lubricating the grommets with silicone grease will aid in the installation of the engine appearance cover, and any future removal and installation of the cover.

      Lubricate each grommet with silicone grease.

      Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)

    2. Position the engine appearance cover onto engine with the grommets aligned with the studs.
    3. Press down on the engine appearance cover at each grommet location to attach the grommets onto the studs.
