Catalytic Converter LH: Removal

NOTE:
If the catalytic converter is not being replaced, the HO2S (heated oxygen sensor) and the catalyst monitor sensor do not need to be removed from the catalytic converter. Disconnecting the electrical connectors is still necessary.

NOTE:
Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
- Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. Refer to: Exhaust Y-Pipe .
- Remove the LH catalytic converter bracket bolts to the transmission.
Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
- Remove the engine oil cooler inlet hose retainer and the A/C compressor inlet line bracket nut.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the engine appearance cover.
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the LH catalytic converter heat shield.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Remove and discard the nuts. Remove the LH catalytic converter.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove and discard the studs.
Torque: 142 lb.in (16 Nm)
